Three negligence lawsuits were filed in October against the organizers of the All Good Music Festival in connection with a July 17 car accident that occurred at the festival. The first two suits were filed by an accident victim who got injured and the family of another victim who died.
The Baltimore Sun reported that Elizabeth Rose Doran, was the latest accident victim to file a negligence suit against festival organizers. In addition to the festival organizers, Marvin’s Mountaintop, where the festival took place, and several of the festival’s vendors were also named as defendants.
The car accident occurred when an attendee who was parked on top of a hill lost control of his car and crashed into a nearby campsite. A woman was killed, and another woman and Doran were injured. The defendants are accused of promoting an unsafe environment by allowing people to park near the campsite.
Doran’s suit specifically alleges that the festival organizers did not take reasonable precautions to avoid an accident. Furthermore, organizers failed to ensure a safe environment and failed to take steps to protect attendees from potential injury due to the reckless and negligent act of parking vehicles on a hill that had insufficient traction and/or protection for festival attendees.
An attorney representing Walther defended the festival’s safety record. The attorney also said that his client conducted an independent investigation and uncovered information that would change what was initially thought as it pertains to the accident. He refused to further elaborate.
